5" RO sanders

Featured Replies

I have a Bosch 1295vs ROS that has fianally died. I'm wondering what you guys use and if there is a quality sander ( other than festool ) that is highly accepted.

I bought the Makita ROS about two months ago and love it. I also have the PC ROS but the pad was just too stiff for my operations. I love the Makita because the pad is soft, and I can sand contours with it. My PC sander also seemed under powered compared to the Makita. The Makita turns even with heavy pressure, the PC stalled and would turn into a standard vibrating sander only when slight pressure was applied. The Makita keeps spinning.

I love it, I would recommend it. And if you buy from our Amazon store your supporting our existence and The Wounded Warrior Project! See link below.

I bought the Porter Cable 5" low profile ROS about 2 weeks ago and I really like it. It removes wood really fast and it has a good dust removal with a vacuum hook up. It's easy to move along the wood and it's easy to handle. It's a little heaver than some ROS. I'd suggest testing one out at Wood Craft if you have one nearby. I bought it from Wood Crafters in Portland Or. because they price matched Wood Craft's price for $109.00. Just after I bought it Wood Craft dropped the price to $94.00. Oh well thats life.

Hey John, do I see a tool review in the future for this sander!113.gif

I'd buy another Bosch.

Gary, it's more of a function that the proceeds from any purchases made through any of our web portals, are used to support The American Woodworker and The Wounded Warrior Project. Not that any vendor supports The Wounded Warriors.  Click on the following link see our policy and our affiliates. OUR AFFILLIATES. Click on any of those affiliate banners, and make a purchase, and we get the credit! And that is another step towards The Wounded Warriors getting theirs.

By supporting us, you support The Wounded Warrior Project.

Amazon is one of our affiliates as well. I am revamping our Amazon store front as we speak. But if you enter Amazon through the link to the ROS I provided in my prior post, and make a purchase, we get a 5% commission as well, and our funds are used as stated in our policy. You don't even have to purchase the sander I suggested, you could purchase anything from Amazon once you enter through my link I gave you, and we get the credit. You could buy a book, as long as you entered through our portal, we get the credit.
