February 15, 201115 yr Okay, well at least here it is starting to warm up. In the 60's all this week, and it might even reach the 70's one day. I know it is early and we will still have some cold/cool weather but I have been in the shop the past few days. Craft shows start back up the First Friday in March so I have got to get busy and fill my inventory for that first show. I had a really good season last year and sold completely out of cutting boards by Christmas. Soooo, I have been busy these past few days getting some cutting boards back in production. I got four in the final glue up last night so tonight will be drum sander night. Also got a small sofa table to finish. Top panel is glued and sanded. Now it is time to cut the mortises on the legs and taper them. I would like to get it to a state to put finish on this weekend. So what's on your bench? What are you working on now if you are getting back into the shop? Â
February 15, 201115 yr Right now, four picture frames for my daughter. Next up is a new porch swing for my brother in Alabama which Mr Moody might get to see.

February 16, 201115 yr I have a very small computer table on my bench. Have you ever got demensions for a project from a woman???? Now follow my story.....this lady friend lives in another town several miles away. She has a small extra bedroom that includes her sewing room, a hide-a-bed, space to do her ironing and the computer. Not a lot of room to spare. She wants me to build a computer desk exactly like her old wallmart special, except she wants drawers insted of just shelves, with the bottom drawer built to be a file drawer. Now comes the good part. She...........bless her heart...........takes news paper and folds it to the shape of her original table top and more news paper folded to resemble the flat panel leg supports. This is all well and good.............then she gets a tape measure in her hands and starts writting directions. And they are stated "the thing", "almost but nite quite" and "does that make sense". I had to call her and we spent a good half hour on the phone with me trying to pry information outa her. We had a heck of a time getting the tape measure from the verticle to the horizontal so I could get some measurements. All the while, I was looking a photo of her original wally world special. I hope she don't know about this forum............cuz she'd kill me if she read this. I should finish this thing today............and I'll try to post a photo
February 17, 201115 yr Well, here it is. My latest completion. The little computer desk I had such great plans for. Â Just keep in mind that my shop is a working shop and not a show shop. So, please don't look at the mess. Whow!!! The photo is border to border and coast to coast!!! Red Oak plywood with 1/4" edge banding on thre top and leg panels. Red Leaf maple (soft maple) drawers with solid oak faces. Stained and lacquered. Anyway, the only real difference between this desk and her present desk........is the drawers.........plus I hope this one is better built. And she wanted a file drawer..........so I incorporated the runners, so it's a real file drawerhttp://thepatriotwoodworker.com/forums/uploads/ning-dscf0201-49465-96.jpg'>

February 17, 201115 yr Author Hey Gary that is alright my friend. I know it is a lot better than the Wally World version. That is top of the line. And hey the shop is suppose to be a working shop. I only clean up when I do setup pictures of the shop. You even put the wrist rest on the keyboard shelf. That is great and thanks for sharing it. That is what we are all about.
