A Message to Our Newest Members

First I would like to thank you for choosing to join us and making us a part of your woodworking forum experience. Your membership is very important to us here at The American Woodworker. We never take anyone for granted here. Everyone is a very important part of what we are trying to accomplish here.

You might have noticed by now, beside the fact that we are primarily a woodworking community, we are also fanatical supporters of our servicemen and women. We show our support to our troops by supporting our favorite charity The Wounded Warrior Project.

The American Woodworker is a 100 percent purely non profit website, meaning, no body here pockets one penny of anything that is gained through this website. Myself  and our Forum Helpers are 100 percent volunteers here.

We have name brand retailers who we have chosen to affiliate our site with. They don't pay us to have their product on our site, the only way we gain any funds from them, is if you the member, enters their website through one of our ad banners like the WOODCRAFT banner you see above the FORUMS window on the Home Page. If you click on that banner, you'll be redirected to WOODCRAFT, you can then make a purchase, and a 5 percent commission is generated from your purchase that is credited to our account. We use these funds to pay our hosting fees, and donate to The Wounded Warrior Project. To see our other affiliate's we work with you can click on "SUPPORT TAW" at the top of our site in the tabs area and click on "OUR AFFILIATE'S". If you purchase anything through these portals, we get a commission.

At times during the year, we will hold fundraisers for Wounded Warriors. The last two fundraisers we held generated 540 dollars thanks to our members. But don't wait for a fundraiser to show your support! You can go to our Team Page now and place a donation that goes directly to The Wounded Warriors. They are a wonderful organization that helps our wounded soldiers, sailors and airmen returning home from war, they help them while they are in the hospital, and during their transitional period from soldier to civilian. This is the only organization of this size folks that gives out 80 cents of every dollar they receive directly to the troops and their families, that is a high rate of charity in the world of charitable organizations.

I guess why I am going into all the details for you, is to re-iterate how important it is for you to be here. There is much more to our community then woodworking. We all love woodworking, otherwise we wouldn't be here, but we love our troops here on The American Woodworker as well, and your membership with us is very important to us, and those that need us. Just being here on our network, is important, your doing your part without even knowing it. The more members we have, the bigger impact we are able to make, even in the smallest of ways.

Thank you so much once again for joining up with us. We appreciate you.

Glad to be here.  Also glad to know about the Wounded Warriors.  I am a member of an AMVETS Post that does pretty well collecting money. WE are always looking for a way to forward that and making it the WIDEST benefit to all.  Next WW project comes up I'll bring it to our post for a donation.  We'll see if we can't make that money grow a good percentage higher.
