I was over at a friend shop Saturday and he had a piece of spalted oak so I turned a small bowl from it. First time I think I have turned any oak. I ran into a knot when I started turning the center of the bowl. It was sure hard.

 

Anyway, here it is right off the lathe. The oak was green so I'll give it a bit to dry and see if I can round it up. I turned the walls pretty thin just playing so I am not sure I can save this one.

Here is a bowl my friend Ron, turned from some spalted maple.

 

 

I didn't get to stay to get a picture of Bob's bowl, but here he is turning it.
