A Fun Little Vase Build

Featured Replies

I had some 8/4 Cherry leftover from my first rocker, I got jealous of seeing all the guys on here with lathes having a wonderful time turning vases, well, not to be outdone or swayed from having fun too, I went ahead and made a square vase.

I took four 8/4 blanks, glued them together to form a rectangular box, glued some walnut to the bottom, and then I commenced to shaping the vase out of my square form. An hour later, with a hand plane, a rasp and my ROS, I came up with this cool form that I can call a vase!

Thanks for looking! These unexpected brain storms are a lot of fun, no plans, just a whim and a little bit of time. It's very therapeutic to the soul. But, I do need a lathe!

Gorgeous design!

You must have had a pile of shavings/sawdust left over!

John, that is too cool man. You are great at coming up with the creative design. Man just imagine what you would be putting out with a lathe.Grin.gif   I am tempting you.

Very nice job on it. Nice form.

I saw this, was wondering how you made it. Nice job!
