I'm going to do my best to narrate my way thru this.

First off is a photo of the old city library that is/has been preserved and it is actually a historic point of interest for some travelers. It is an awsume structure.

 

This next photo is just a shot of some of the photos that were displayed and judged. Please keep in mind that we are just a small hick town out here on the frozen tundra of western north dakota.

This is a photo of the bird houses we, the woodworkers, built that are auctioned off in a silent auction. All money's made are donated to the James Memorial for it's upkeep etc. Bids so far for the bird houses vary from $10.00 to one that is now at $100.00. There are 3 more days left for bidding and we expect the bidding to get hot and heavy by sunday noon. And yes.... I have a bird house in there too.

This one is scroll sawn trees. There is a guy here in town that is totally awsume at this. Each tree has many seperate compartments............and in some cases compartments within compartments. He uses probably the smallest scroll saw blade available becuase everything fits back together so snuggly, He also scrolls out the little fish. He did make one of these fish that was maybe 1/2" long, and had several parts. If any of you have made these fish....you know what I mean.This is mainly turned screwdrivers that are reborne with new handles. The guys go purchase those cheep screwdrivers with multiple bits............and turn their own handle. There are scrollsawn snow flakes on the right side, and a couple of small walnut decorative cutting boards. On the right side is a bird house...........in the style of an outhouse...........complete with a one hole'r.This one is scroll work. Yes, our club is mostly scrollers..............and I damned good scrollers.This is more of the screwdrivers plus turnings. Most of these cups/bowls are turned from plywood. Mostly lumberyard grade and I think he has turned baltic birch also. There is a very nice pattern that is uncovered.There is a zig-zag cutting board made from white oak and a pitcher turned on the "ring master". I beleive this is one of his first projects after purchasing the machine.This is my stuff.Mr. Moody..........I said I would display that dumb box........but I did!!! There are 3 cutting boards, a key hanger and a bread dipping board.This is a little better box that I just made. I had a walnut cut-off that had some real nice pattern in it. So...........I re-saw'd it and glued it up and this is what I ended up with. The border is walnut and holly.I also re-saw'd some 1-1/16" thick white limba to a shy 1/2", then did that grain match thing all around the outside of the box. Only one corner seems to have lost the matching grain.I mortised in the hinges. They are perfectly matched mortises and I thought I had the depth set correctly..........but I didn't They were shallow. But, it was a screw up in my favor. I was able to put little rubber buttons in the corners and the lid has the same open space all around making it balance and look like I did it on purpose. I may at some time put a tray on the inside and maybe a mirror on the bottom side of the lid.One last photo of bird houses. This is a trelles (sp) and it has 3 little bird houses. Oh ya, I almost forgot the walnut cedar chest and the folding stool. This is the only big stuff that was brought to the show. Mainly because it's quite a climb up the steps for anything big and bulky.                       Thanks for look'n.

Gary, very nice narration of the pictures. Wow that is a lot of very nice things. I hope you all raise a lot of money for the cause. I am glad you placed the box on the table. It looks good sitting there among all of the other items. You have been a busy woodworker getting all of that ready to display. I really like the new box. That top is spectacular and I like the ideas for the enhancements you were talking about.
