April 1, 201115 yr Got a busy weekend. Â First Friday Florence tonight if the rain stays away. I'll post a pic of my tables. Starts at 4:30 pm and goes till 8:30 pm or till there is no one left. Â Check it out. http://www.firstfridaysflorence.com/ Â Saturday, taking my dad to a Union Carbide Retired Employee's reunion. The group is getting smaller each year so I want to make sure he gets to go. Always have a great lunch and lots of friends. Â Got the legs squared up last night for a small table that was ordered. Got to get the mortise and tenons cut and ready for a glue up. I have got to push this one and get it to finish and delivered. Â Got an old rocker that has been in the shop since last fall to make new rockers for. I have the blanks ready, just need to cut them out and mount them and get it delivered. Â So what about all of you. What are you working on this weekend. I know you are doing something, so come on and share it with us. Â Â
April 1, 201115 yr I'm working a bit on an antique children's rocker but spending most of the day celebrating my son's 34th birthday. We're also hoping to celebrate a Butler win at the NCAA Final Four.
April 2, 201115 yr Oh shoot, it's Friday? Thought it was thursday!!!! Oh crud oh crud, oh crud gotta go....Â
April 2, 201115 yr Bat houses for cub scouts, challenge coin holders, and flag boxes. Nothing left to do but get going on those things I should LOVE to do and some (flag boxes) I need to get done. I think I promised about 4 of them to folks. I'll make 10 - the extras are to offer through a funneral home.Challenge coin holders, at least 12 to send and more to keep local - pretty sure we have a WWP local in Milwaukee.Bat houses to help Cubs in two weeks. They need 10. We'll make what ever a sheet of plywood yields and they can sell the rest for a profit to their pack. Of course I have to clean the 2 quartes of used oil off the floor of the shop first. Grand-daughter ran over the capture tank after we did an oil change. (why do people think the FIRST thing they need to do leaving a garage is TURN THE WHEEL?) It's be covered with oil dryer & sand for a day now; no sawdust I cleaned the shop two weeks ago!
April 2, 201115 yr Author Sounds like some great projects lined up for the weekend. Mike it is now Saturday! I had a fairly good show last night. Lots of tire kickers, sold two cutting boards and gave out lots of cards. Got the staples out of my head this week so I am waiting on the barber shop to open so I can get a trim. Chech on you all later...
April 2, 201115 yr Hey John, always a good thing when you get staples out of your head! Hope your barbershop has a metal detector. Glad you sold some boards. You make a very nice cutting board. I am in some art shows this year. Only did one of those before, so it should be interesting. Hope your cards pay off. bob
April 3, 201115 yr Author Well Ron, it looks like Butler made it to the finals. So does that mean you won't be posting here on Monday night??? April 3, 201115 yr Author John, Sounds like you have got some fun stuff on the agenda. Post us some pictures of the house for the scouts if you can. Would love to see them. And then you got the shop cleaned. I can never seem to get or keep it clean. Congratulations to you.John Nebelsiek said:Bat houses for cub scouts, challenge coin holders, and flag boxes. April 3, 201115 yr Author Charles, it would be fine to give us an update here and a full layout over in the turning forum. Â Let us see that Gatsby. What kind of wood are you using on it? Â Charles Nicholls said: Probably finish the Gatsby I started a few days ago but that's more for the turners forum than here . Looks like you'll be having fun John.
April 3, 201115 yr Author So Gene, how do the mirror pattern tweaking go? Got to tell you I didn't get as far today as I wanted. But that seems to always be the way it is.Gene Howe said:Since the untimely demise of the planer, I find myself with time on my hands. Today found me making a magnetized bag that hangs on the iron underside of the jointer. Little less sweeping. Saturday is going to be a day of oval wall mirror pattern tweaking. Probably make a new pattern, too.Sunday will be a day off....well I may fiddle with the carving patterns. I wish I liked to watch basketball.Â
April 3, 201115 yr It will take a while yet. The "oil spill" is almost of BP proportions. It covers about 80 s.f. of the shop floor. The OIL ABSORBE clay is doing SOMETHING but still there is residue which I'll wash tomorrow. THEN I might get to do some wood working. The bat houses have to be kept simple; 7-10 yr olds. I'll go one better and see if we get them all done so I can take a group photo but that's not until 19 Apr.I WILL do flag boxes and coin holders this week - THAT is my agenda. I need to get that stuff done.John Moody said:John, Sounds like you have got some fun stuff on the agenda. Post us some pictures of the house for the scouts if you can. April 4, 201115 yr Author Ron, that looks like a nice outfeed table. Lots of storage or at least flat space. Keep us abreast of the progress on that one.
April 4, 201115 yr Author Okay, I have to confess, I didn't get near what I intended to do done. Have you ever had those kind of weekends? Ended up having to run a few errands on Saturday morning that were not planned. Then got on the John Deere and started cutting grass. It has rained everyday for a week and lots of rain so I had to get it cut already. It was still wet down inside and kept stopping up the bagger. Took over two hours just to get the yard cut, weed eating done and trim up the Crape Myrtle. Flat on the utility trailer so had to take the tire off and get a new stem install. Noticed my air compressor wasn't putting out much air. I would squeeze the trigger on the impact wrench and be a blast of air then almost nothing. Well, anyway, no shop time. Sunday afternoon, I picked up a new regulator for the compressor and changed it out and took care of that problem. So of all the things I needed to be working on, I didn't get to any of them. Will be a busy week this week. So how about the rest of you, were you able to get your projects done?
April 4, 201115 yr Author Sorry, Rob, sometimes the fingers just type what they want to. I had just replied to Ron and I guess that was on my mind and fingers.. Robert M said:  I'm Rob, not Ron, John. LOL
