Welcome to The American Woodworker!

We are a grass roots non profit website. Thank you for joining up with us. We are a relatively new site, and you will see we are a small site at this point in time. We have a good solid core community and we are excited to have you aboard with us.

Please take some time and explore our Network Tutorials to get an idea of how you can navigate our site, load pictures, create photo albums, add videos, and much more.

Also don't forget to Introduce Yourself and tell us a bit about your self. We love hearing about your interests in woodworking, and what brought you here.

Now a brief word about those ads and sale notices you see on our site. Since we are a 100 percent all volunteer website, meaning that myself, and our Forum Helpers are doing this without putting one single dime in our pockets, we do have some retailers on our site who are considered affiliates. They are not paying us advertising revenue, I wish they were, we'd be rolling in money if that were the case. These affiliates are companies that I have sought out and signed a contract with stating that any purchases made by our members from this site, will net us a small commission of which is put into our affiliate account. Usually the commission is around 5 percent. Our sales are low right now, because our membership is small. You can enter the retailers site through any of the ads on this site, and when you make a safe and secure transaction at Woodcraft for example, we get a commission automatically generated through the magic of tracking software.

Now on to the good part. While we are here for woodworkers, we do have an underlying agenda that I feel is fair for you all to know upfront. We are a fundraiser for The Wounded Warrior Project. And this is where the sales of merchandise ties in with our members. The commissions we gain through your purchases are used to pay the hosting dues to keep this site live, and we donate proceeds to The Wounded Warrior Project. We support our wounded heroes returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan.

So you are playing a huge part in the success of our community and in helping our American Soldiers, Airmen, Marines and Sailors. This is who we are as a community, we are woodworkers with a cause.

One thing I don't ever want on this network, is for anyone to feel obligated to purchase anything while here, we just want you to be here and have fun. You might not know this, but just by you being here, your helping us, and your helping our servicemen and women.

If your in a good position in life where you can afford to part with some funds for a great cause, a good place to start is by donating to The Wounded Warrior Project through our team page. All funds donated go directly to The Wounded Warriors. You can go to the TEAM PAGE and place your donation. And if you really like what you see here, and you'd like to show your support by donating to The American Woodworker Community to help keep us live, you can go to Support The American Woodworker and make a small donation. Your donations will go to our hosting provider to pay our monthly dues, and we are also using donations for the shipping charges of the Challenge Coin Displays that our members have been making to send to our troops laid up in the hospital while recovering from their battle wounds.
