It's Friday, April 8th What's on your shop agenda this weekend?

Okay, I have to keep this going for a while.

Weather is warming up I guess in most places, Rich do we have any thawing yet??

So I am working a several cutting boards to fill orders since First Friday. Hope to get them finished and shipped by Monday.

BassMaster's is in town and the Big Boys are fishing Wilson and Pickwick lakes this week. They are having a big event on Saturday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm just before the final weigh in. I was invited to come down and setup my booth with my woodworking. I have no idea how well it will do, but since I was invited I am going. Weather will be int he 80's and sunshine.

Got to find a little time for get before the big screen to follow the Masters! I am thinking Matt Kuchar has a good chance.

I have a couple of more projects on the bench, just have to see if I get enough time to work on them.

Grass mowing season is upon me.

So how about you, what are you working on this weekend. Any projects finishing up or just some R&R?

I wish I could have R&R.  I'm working like mad for a pro-bono project for my church.  I'm a hobbyist and I got myself over my head by opening my big mouth and telling my pastor, "Sure, I could do that!"  And what I thought was simple turned into this crazy project.  Four light boxes, 6' wide, 8' tall, 1' deep, finished plywood sides (walnut stain), rough ply backing boards, and a white poly cloth screen with a decorative walnut overlay on the front.  I have 3 built and am working on finishing it (paint/stain/poly).  I have yet to start making the decorative walnut overlay/screen elements.  And they want them all done by Easter for the 'big reveal'.  Oy.  My wife thinks I'm nuts and has told me "No more projects!"  She wants to park in the shop...er...garage again.

I hope you get your cutting boards done.  Be sure to adversite that they are perfect for gutting fish!

I am hoping to wrap up a large painted stepback cupboard for a client. 8 ft tall and 8 ft wide, 2 sections, 2 colors. Still have to finish the painting and sanding the top section and all the interior shelves and back boards. Finish sand and paint the doors and cut the glass panes out of old glass. We'll see how far I get.

Me too Lewis.  I have three that I'm putting the finishing touches on.

No woodworking on the schedule. I was expecting delivery of the large Crescent Universal Woodworker so I could get started on it's restoration, but the sand blaster is running behind schedule.

So tonight after work I did some much needed cleaning of the shop. Tomorrow I will do more cleaning and finish moving some equipment around to make room for the Crescent.

I finally picked up a mag starter for the 80 Gallon Quincey compressor I picked up a while back so if I have time I will run some 3 phase power over to it and get the piping hooked up to it.

SHane, any of your old stuff 3 phase?

Thanks Gene, I made a post here a couple weeks back showing some pics and info about it

Ron, most of the old machines in my shop run off of 3 phase that is powered by a rotary phase convertor that I have mounted in the back room of the shop.

I live in California and it's cold for me, a chilly 46 deg. F here...hehe.  This weekend I'll have to "sneak" in some shop time because I have a few events to go to.  I have a few commissions to do and then it's off to using a block of zebrawood any way I want.

I'm setup today at the Bassmasters Elite series tournament. ESPN is broadcasting from here, they are fishing Pickwick lake on the Tennessee River in Florence, Alabama. Huge crowd. Already sold several items today. Weight in is at 4:00pm. Check it out.

Congratulations John! What moved today, cutting boards? Turnings?

Had a great time at the BassMasters tournament. If you think woodworking is expensive, you should see some of those boats and then the vehicle to pull it with. That doesn't even touch the equipment inside the boat. Wow.

Here are a couple of shots from where I was setup.

Here is a shot of the stage for the weigh in and ESPN's trailer is the yellow one to the left.

When they came in for the weight in, they brought the trucks pulling the boats down through here.

It was a fun afternoon. Pens were what sold. I couldn't tell you when I have sold many pens at an even but I sold several pens. It was a nice sunny afternoon, with a nice breeze off the water and we were in the shade so it was a good day.

Hope you all had a good weekend with your projects and got either some shop time, R&R or just got outside for a while and enjoyed the nice weather if that is what you had.
