Just like Jeff, I was also referred here by Dan Wyatt, a heck of a nice guy.  I ran into him on the OWWM forum.  I'm a hobby wood worker and do a great job at turning otherwise useful pieces of wood into kindling.

 

I favor the old machines but have a mix in my shop currently:

The newer machines were a smokin' deal I got from a nice guy who bought them in great condition with plans of opening a cabinet shop; the economy tanked, his partner bailed, and the machines got stuck in the backyard of a rental property under thin painters tarps.  2-3 years went by and the tarps all rotted away, so you can imagine what happened.  I got all of the Jet/Grizzly machines listed (and a few more) for $200 and all I had to do was clean off the rust, repaint as needed, and put in new motor/arbor bearings.  I sold off a couple of machines I had and ended up making money on the deal.  Pretty cool, and what I figure to be a once in a lifetime deal.

 

My shop is in my two car attached garage.  My wife seems to think it's a garage, not a shop, so she insits on parking in there.  That means everything is on mobile bases.  My Jet table saw is on a 7 foot long mobile base w/an extra cast iron TS top that has a PC 790 router inverted under it, and a wood bench top on the other end with a 10" WW vise at the very end.  It's a beast to move, as it's got to weigh at least 500-700lbs. 

 

I'm currently in over my head with a project for my church.  Four lightboxes, each of them 6' wide by 8' tall and 1' deep.  They would like them done by Easter weekend.  I have 3 of them mostly done, but none of the front decorative screens have been built.  I'll make a separate post about that when I have a minute.

Welcome Mike, glad to have you here! I think you made one hockey sticks of a deal on that equipment, how is the Easter project coming along?

When we first moved to our home, I told my wife that all my equipment would be on mobile bases so she could get her car in the garage. Eventually, she just ended up leaving the car out in the driveway. She got tired of trudging through the sawdust!
