Hi - my name is Craig Schultz and I am yet another OWWM and OMWMer, plus an OWAMMO.  Is that enough acronyms or what!!!!

I am a chronic tool collector and restorer, both wood and metal working tools. I have a passion for the old Delta cast iron base stuff.........around WWII vintage or before, to the early 1950's. I am a sucker for the art deco cast iron bases, and have pretty much put those on the old 14" bandsaws (3) one is a wood metal 1938 with RI motor, one is a wood metal 1941, and the third is a 1948 wood model.  Add to that a couple 6X48" sanders with CI bases, and a coupe 12" disk sanders. Rounding it out is a Delta wood lathe, scroll saw, a first and 2nd generation 17" DP600 press, late 1930's and 1945. plus a 1945 DP220 survivor floor model press. On the Unisaw front, I have a 1939 4 footer and a 1997 Uni my dad bought before he passed away. I also have a series of Walker Turner presses, 20" and 15"......plus several Atlas drill presses, metal lathes, horizontal metal bandsaw, and horzontal milling machines, plus one Bridgeport 9X42" type 1 knee mill. Since my dad taught me as a kid to use the RAS...and DeWalt is the quintisential RAS, I have 6 or so of them laying around I am restoring, mostly from 1940 vintage GE models, mid 1950;s GWI's, a few 925's a 1400 Frankensaw, and a 7790.  I also frequent the DeWalt RAS site.....Someday I may get it all restored, when I have more time, as retirement projects. While my primary passion is metal working and fabrication, plus restoring old Corvettes, I also leaned woodworking from my dad and have done furniture fabrication.

My buddy Dan Wyatt mentioned this site and I am glad to be here!.......Craig

Wonderful to have you here Craig. I know you from the owwm site too. You sure hit it on the head about the acronyms. {glad you spelled that first}. I am looking forward to all the new folks that have joined. You all have such great knowledge! Thanks again for coming on board. bob

Hi Craig,

I am glad that you joined and I sure look forward to spending time with you in a few weeks from now at OWAMMO's and afterwards also.

Note: Craig has to drive 1 1/2 days from Tuscon, AZ, but I believe he has been to all 8 of our past OWAMMO's Gatherings and this will make the 9th or something like that. Although the OWAMMOs is a 2 day event Craig and others some time come and spend as much as a week in Carthage and we work on projects together, do day field trips to some of my machinery honeyholes, visit other OWAMMOs shops in the area, eat until we about pop, and just really have a bang up time. Craig also collects Corvettes and has a 1966,1967, and I think a early 1970s. Although he is some kind of hi-ranking Electrical Engineer for IBM, he is also a very "mechanical minded" person can build also build real mean big block Chebby motors.

I really enjoy Craig and I am thankful to met him years ago as he is a special friend.

Some of Craig's big block Chebby motor work:

Here is right to left: Craig, Wendell Lewis, and Dan Mangile in Dan's wonderful shop standing behind a couple of Oliver table saws. Some of us call Dan's shop Oliverland cause he has a gob of neat old Oliver machinery and I think he will be along in a few days to also join us. Dan's shop is within a 1/2 hour drive of my place and a good place to do a shop tour.

You are more than welcome sir and if you ever get down in my neck of the woods please throw out the anchor, pop your parachute, or throw the brakes on and come visit me cause we can probably find some stuff around her that may have interest to our common joy of working in our shops as the upper-crusters call em, but to me they are my sheds cause I designed and built every stick of them and that may give me the right to call them whatever. I guess I'm just 2 much of an old red-necked hillbilly.......... ho ho!

Thanks ~ Dan
