April 19, 201115 yr Since bob was kind enough to send me some of his wood my way I agreed to make a few pens for him. Â Here is the first one, Its a slimline twist pen in Cedar. Â This will be an ongoing project that may take a bit of time to complete. Stay tuned. Â
April 19, 201115 yr Charles, great job on the pens. I love that cedar, it has such a warm look. The finish looks great also, what did you use for the finish?
April 19, 201115 yr It looks very good. Charles Nicholls said:Finished to 600 grit sandpaper then used EEE ultra shine 2 coats, then finally 3 coats of mylands high friction polish, the wood however seemed to just keep soaking it all in, so the finish is real smooth but a low gloss finish.
April 19, 201115 yr Charles,  You beat me to the finish. I have 3 ready to go out to Bob. I haven’t photographed them though. I might take them home and do that. I saw a quote one time that I really liked. "The woodworker is slow, but the wood is patient."
April 19, 201115 yr Wow guys, I saw my name and thought I did something wrong :>)Beautiful pens Charles. And Greg I am sure yours are just as nice. Thanks so much . When ever you want more, let me know. I am working on some tiger maple stuff now, so I will have some more of that. I will also be doing some birdseye maple tops here in a bit.Thank you all again. bob
April 19, 201115 yr Very nice pen and perfect finish. Hmmm maybe the Cedar will make Bob smell better too?  Extremely generous of you Bob to part with the wood, for sure.  -Ace-
