April 30, 201115 yr I purchased a really neat old set of Work Bench Magazines. And I scanned all the covers. I possess issues from 1962 thru 1969 and I am up to 1965 in the scanning process. These are some really neat magazines, get a load of the fashion and the designs. Some of the furnishings they feature on their cover shots, are still considered classics today for us to build. All the cover projects have plans to build them in the issues. If you are interested in any of the projects from this great collection of Work Bench Magazines, just shoot me a PM or leave a message below, and I'll scan the plan for you and post it. I will try to post one magazine cover each and every day until they are exhausted, for now here is January/February 1962. Keep coming back each day to see a new magazine posted right here on The Patriot Woodworker!
April 30, 201115 yr  I built one very similar to this one in the early 70s. Mine was an Emperor clock kit. At that time I had few tools and the kit was my ONLY option. I even had to borrow some clamps from a friend. It is still in our living room ticking away. It keeps pretty good time, but the chimes are off and can't be corrected, at least by me. I don't want to get any more expense in the movement repair, after 40 years of ticking, I'm sure that a replacement is needed. They still make the same movement, so one of these day I guess I'll have to do that. I still have an unfinished grandfather in my garage that is about 90% complete and I do plan to finish that one first.
April 30, 201115 yr  I forgot to thank you for posting this old article, some of us old farts may remember them. We can't remember where we left our pencil, but the old article may ring a bell.
April 30, 201115 yr Author Robert, that is the reason I am posting these old mags here, in case you guys see anything on the cover that you'd like to see on the inside, just let me know and I'll scan the plan or article and post it here. There are some really cool projects coming up, an old cobblers bench, a danish rocking chair etc. Stay tuned!!! Robert M said: Maybe John can .pdf some of the plans that are in them and let us re-enjoy Workbench? ;-) My wife has been wanting a clock like that and I subscribe to KlocKit alerts, online. So I can order the works.
April 30, 201115 yr Author Robert and Lew, thanks for thinking of that, I did think of that.As best as I could tell, this is the new Work Bench Magazine. I have attempted to make contact with them several times and ask for permission to post the old issues, and they have not returned my call or emails. I emailed the Editor at Work Bench and had no reply back to me. So I am assuming that either they don't care, or they choose to remain silent on this, they know what we do here, and they know we are ultimately a charity. So I am hoping they are just choosing to take the 5th.Now on the note of copyright, here is the general rule1. Works published from 1909 through 1921. The initial copyrighted term of the work was 28 years from the date of publication. If the copyright was renewed during the 28th year, the copyright was extended for an additional 28-year period.2. Works published from 1922 through 1963. The initial copyrighted term of the work was 28 years from the date of publication. If the copyright was renewed during the 28th year, the copyright was extended for an additional 67-year period.3. Works published from 1964 through 1978. The initial copyrighted term of the work was 28 years from the date of publication, with an automatic renewal of an additional 67 years.4. Works created on or after January 1, 1978. The following rules apply to published and unpublished works:  According to this I am infringing on copyrights, but I get the feeling they just don't really care, I will keep trying to contact them, and let them know what our purpose is here. I get the feeling they don't care, as long as we are distributing these old issues for free. Just my take on it.  Playing the "Devil's Advocate" here but will posting info from these magazines lead to any copyright violations?
May 1, 201115 yr Author Here ya go Robert, it leaves alot to be desired in details, alot of these Work Bench plans assume a level of skill in the reader, some of the plans are pretty detailed, and others are more of an essay format as is this clock article. But I hope this helps you somewhat. Click on the PDF file below!Robert M said:Cool, can we start with a .pdf of that clock? I hope it's a "from scratch plan. Anybody can buy a kit and put it together, IMHO, but the trick, then, is getting a good finish on.John Morris said:
May 1, 201115 yr John, I'd like a set of those 29 piece drill set for $6.95 and some coveralls for $4. Those ads are interesting too.
