May 12, 201115 yr Wow am I busy right now. I need a vacation from my day job just to catch up in the shop. Right now I have that Oak table to finish. I have the sides and ends for a cedar chest ready to cut the dovetails. Rockers are cut and need to install on the old oak rocker so I can get it out. Several bowl blanks just waiting for me to get to them. I sold out of cutting boards at the First Friday Arts and Crafts Show. I had to order some pen kits to fill orders for a zebra wood pen from my web site. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, just busy and I am loving it. The only problem is it takes me away from here at night. So what is going on with you guys?  I hope you are getting some good shop time in. It is already getting hot here. Was almost 90 degrees today and the humidity was about as high.
May 12, 201115 yr I installed some Base Molding that I made out of redwood for a customer. I put some time in on a Flag Case I am working on. Tomorrow I have to start fixing/replacing a wall in my sun room, so tonight I am drawing out the plans and making a shopping list. Not a whole heck of a lot but trying to keep busy. We are still in the mid 70s to low 80s cant complain, but we will get our soon I am sure, we have had it way to nice so far.  Â
May 12, 201115 yr I was out in the shop tonight working on the big challenge coin display for our WWP soldier SFC Lara. It's coming down the home stretch. This weekend, I hope to finish the display, and got an interesting job I am hired to do, convert an old wall clock into a jewelry case. The workings are missing, the clock is about a hundred years old, no guts, and there is a perfect area to install a secondary case for jewelery and necklaces. The customer came to me, and I thought it was a great idea, what a way to put an old non functional wall clock back to work.
May 12, 201115 yr I am working on some shaker sewing tables for a show. Have a 2 drawer file cabinet going and some tops for another furniture maker. Have a lots of stuff to get out in the next couple weeks.
May 12, 201115 yr I'm grinding out more wall paneling for the country store. The design for my shop doors is finalized and this morning I will start roughing out the pieces from some old Redwood beams .
May 12, 201115 yr Mama's curio cabinet for me. Working on the raised panel doors but it looks like a trip to buy oak is in the near future.
May 12, 201115 yr Author See I knew someone else out there was busy since there wasn't a lot of posting going on here. Man isn't this great with all of this woodworking going on. I am hearing about some nice projects above and we got to get some progress pictures of these. You know some before, along the way and after shots. Â William you sound as busy as I am right now. Â John, that sounds like a fun and unique project. Give us a shot of the old clock. By the way, we need a rocker update also. Â Bob, that sewing table sounds interesting. What size is it? Â Rob, how is the Country Store coming? Are you seeing the light at the end. We need to see that project when you complete it for sure. Â Ron, I love a good wood road trip. That Curio sounds as though it will be really nice. I am looking forward to seeing it progress also. Â Last night when we got home from church I had a little sanding to do on some cutting boards. My five year old granddaughter that lives with us wanted to go to the shop with me and help sand. Now there is a helper for you. She likes the drum sander. Â As you can see I have some panels for the cedar chest standing behind her and there are 10 sheets of Baltic Birch behind her for the cabinet job with my son. We had to change out he last plywood that got shipped it was the wrong size. Hope to get all of those cut out the Saturday and start putting cabinets together. Â Have a great day guys, I am off to Birmingham, AL for some work related meetings.
May 12, 201115 yr Hi John , What a terrific helper you have !! On the country store , the owner is continuously adding things on the list like outside tables , arbors , a wine tasting area , etc . This project might go on for some time ! Keep your granddaughter busy -
May 12, 201115 yr Ron , I have 10 or 12 of those tables to do.They will be about 27" tall and the tops will be about 18" by 18". Each gets 2 dovetailed drawers below the top that open both ways. Just got done doing some weed control around the shop and house.More rain coming soon and the weeds are shooting up fast.
