May 14, 201115 yr I would like the opinion of our members on this one. I am at a crossroad here on this wonderful project for our very own WWP soldier SFC Lara. I have the main cabinet display finished for our hero. The cabinet stands about 30" tall by 16" wide, it will hold up to 100 challenge coins in SFC Lara's collection. He has told us that he has over 100 coins, and no place to put them. My question to you all is, at this point, there is no door with glass. Personally, I like the idea of no door, so you could reach in at will and hold a coin, and there is no glass in between the viewer and the coins. The back of the case is 1/4" ply wrapped in black velvet by the way. What say you all, door or no door? If I did a door, it would be 1" frame with glass and a piano style hinge. Sergeant Lara has not given input on this design, all he knows is he is getting a display case for his coins from us. Thanks for your opinions! John
May 14, 201115 yr This is a beautiful cabinet and is very well build! .......Congratulations!!!Personally I would install a glass door to keep the dust out and especially in light of the black velvet that likes to attract dust. To have the display always looking great and prevent the requirement for constant dusting, a door may be the way to go. Maybe you don't even need a frame by installing the hindges directly to the glass and a magnetic closer on the other side. You can purchase hindges and magnetic closers designed to attach directly to the glass in most good hardware stores. Just a thought.Roger
