May 14, 201115 yr John2.. In response to your recent questions about designing openings in cabinets that are different heights, I do not know of an arthmetical formula that provides guidance as to how to space them. I have desigbed a few cabinets with them, and for me, it's just a "how do they look" thing. Most variabe design heights for drawer openings should be at least a one inch difference, in my humble opinion, to provide enough difference that can be readilly seen. Another guide would be to make very sure that all the dimensions add up to the overall height dimension, so there won't be any surprises. Below is an image I have posted before that shows a Bath Cabinet with different height openings. Larry    Â
May 14, 201115 yr Even though this is for John Moody, thanks for posting Larry, your just a plethora of knowledge aren't you? Good stuff all around, I love your drawings. OHHHH SHOOT! It just clicked in my memory banks Larry, I still got a cabin to look at and decide on!!! Man, sorry I blew it. I love your cabin designs, I'm heading on over now. After all that work you put into that discussion and I just blow ya off, what kind of host am I? I'm heading over now!
May 14, 201115 yr John1..About time. I thought you blew the cabin thingy away. After you choose one design, I'l re-present it in a more legible form. Then I'll want the whole Gang to "shoot at it" to see if we can make it even better! But they have to realize, there is some pride of authorship here that I might defend I'll try and be nice about it. Yeah, sure..Larry
May 16, 201115 yr Larry, great write up and thank you. I really didn't know when I ask if there was some sort of rule of thumb or other rule in laying out drawers. I have certainly seen chest with lots of drawers and with only a few drawers. I guess it is just one of those you make it fit the situation. I read an article on drawer sizing somewhere, I am going to look and see if I can find it. I like the plan you put up. Good job sir!!
