my shop

ning-shop1-45556-90.jpg?width=750This is my shop , looking from the deck on our house. It is 32' by 96'. The horse[ my wife's] has the back 24' of the building. I am slowly working on taking that back. ;>)

ning-shop11-45556-52.jpg?width=750This is what I walk into in the front door. My bench, which is just at the bottom with the caliper's on it. My sanding area is where the vac sits. Some roll around benches and my old American Sawmill Machinery 30" bandsaw is in the back. Another bench and some of my routers are also in the back.

My 1949 unisaw is on the left. That is set up for panel cutting with the rolling table. I don't use it very much at all. I should sell it.

ning-shop111-45556-86.jpg?width=750This is the other side of the sanding area where I do my glueups. Clamp rack and my copy lathe sit along the wall with the air compressor. The 2 cabinets in the corner hold my wood molding planes and some other crud. You are looking north.

ning-shop112-45556-81.jpg?width=750This is looking into the back area of the shop, looking due west. Drum sander, 24" planer and 12" jointer and dust collector. To the far right is an 8" jointer. Lots of curly maple on the rack and standing. At the very back through the opening is my spray area and hardware storage. Hidden behind the dust collector bag is the door back to the horse. Did I say I am slowly working on getting that back.....Smile.gif

ning-shop113-45556-29.jpg?width=750Some more curly flame birch and stuff to the left of the planer. I gotta find more room.

ning-shop114-45556-31.jpg?width=750This is back out in the front room to the left of the sanding area. from the left, a 20" disk sander, a porter cable oscillating spindle sander, a powermatic edge sander, 4 of my shapers, my Fay and Egan mortiser, delta bandsaw, dust collector  and some shaker table bases in the back along with a bunch more lumber....geez, I got a lot of lumber and I still have 2 more buildings full.

ning-shop115-45556-76.jpg?width=750This is the middle of the front shop. A bunch of shaker table parts that are predyed, ready for sanding, yu can see both my unisaws, the newer one is the further back of the two. There is a 12" disk sander back by the panel router. Table tops are in front and patterns are on the back walls, dust filter is hanging on the ceiling.

When I built this place, I never in a million years thought I would fill it. That lasted about a month. That was 11 years ago. I have radiant heat in the floor. Best thing I ever did. No dust blowing around and no flames to worry about. I put steel on the walls inside and out along with the roof. I love it. I have 10' ceilings inside. Perfect height for me. Most of my wood is 10' and under.

Hope Rob sees this. He asked for it. Any questions, let me know. bob

Nice shop Bob...

I have a question, the last picture, above the shaker table parts...is that a shop made air filter?

-Ace-

Nice looking outside, not so much inside. Thanks Rob, I went and bought an air dryer today. Have to go pick it up tomorrow. I also saw an absolutely beautiful 12" Yates American patternmaker's jointer. Looked like it just came from the factory. Just flat out pretty. Big ship's wheel table adjustment on the side. 750$. But I have a 12", so it stayed there. Sure was tempting though.

Ace the air filter is a JDS one. Works really well. Bought it used.

Bob yours is a working shop - and a heck of a lot cleaner than mine !! LOL

Great looking shop Bob and some of your super looking wood too.

Thanks for sharing the master builders shop Bob! The peek into your daily life is fun, how many hours do you do in that shop daily on average?

It Depends, somedays 6 or 7 , somedays 10 or more. Its like any business. Except it is only me, no helpers or office people. I love it. No one to pass any blame on or make excuses for. My father was a business owner and it kind of runs in the family. I always tell folks we don't play well with others. ;>)

Thank you Gene. I know one member here has been at the shop. Mike Zilis has made it here a couple times. He knows how messy it gets.

That's a shop on steroids.  I love it and wish I had that much room.

Man that is an awesome woodworking shop. Heck, I would just like to have the part the horse has!

Why is it they all just seem to fill up? You walk in and there is all of that room and then you can't turn around without bumping into something. I think they shrink over time.

Great place Bob, thanks for the tour. I'll drop my drink bottle in the recycle on the way out.

Thanks guys. Its just a shop. A workplace. I love it, but it is also nice to get away once in a while. Any member is invited by anytime. Just call me to make sure I am here. Its really nothing fancy. But, I am blessed to do what I do.
