I recently posted "HERE" that my old Hitachi jig saw died and that I needed a new one. I got a lot of good advice and the top dog out there right now is the Bosch 1590EVSL. Greg Coleman posted a link to a new video review done by the Woodworkers Journal in April 2011 comparing the top 7 jig saws out there which clearly gave the nod to the Bosch "HERE".

So I bought the Bosch through Amazon for $169 with no tax or shipping and it came in earlier this week. I used it on Wednesday to cut up the rest of the 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood for the kid's rocking chairs I have been making. All I can say about the Bosch 1590EVSL is WOW!!! Using this jig saw compared to my old Hitachi is like night and day. The Bosch is considerably heavier but the cutting power and ease of cutting and the quality of cutting is far superior than any other jig saw I have ever used. The precision blade control which are wheels that clamp up to the sides of the blade to keep it straight similar to the guide wheels on a bandsaw work amazingly well so that I had no blade wander. The finish on the edges was very smooth with no tear out.

 

 So to those who steered me to the Bosch 1590EVSL.....thank you. For those who are looking for a new jig saw, go with the Bosch and you won't be disappointed.
