May 27, 201115 yr comment_45166 Eye candy for sure. Very pretty selection on woods . Are these pieces going to look for a home or are they pre-sold ? Report
May 27, 201115 yr Author comment_45165 These are for a show this weekend. Finished them on Wednesday and put together on Thursday. I may have sold one already. I wish I had more of the heavy birdseye stock. I had 5 pieces. Had the heaviest figure I ever saw. Plus it was 3" square. Report
May 27, 201115 yr comment_45164 Ohhh, oh my! Bob, those are absolutely beautiful. Superb craftsmanship, excellent. The lumber is beautiful as well. Can you tell me how you secured the legs? Sliding dovetails? The drawers, if I am not mistaking, those drawers slide both ways correct?Very nice work Bob. Very nice indeed. It's hard to take my eyes of them.John Report
May 27, 201115 yr Author comment_45163 Hi John. I made it so the drawers only come out 1 way. The original was like that. Yes, legs are sliding dovetails. I cut the flats on the legs first, then the dovetail slot. I have an old small overhead router and it worked slick as snot. Simple 2 sided box to hold the leg. This design has always been one of my favorites, but I did not like the shaker turned pedestal. I like the simple taper on mine better. Looking at these and seeing the plain walnut with the others all figured, makes the walnut look out of place. The figure is what really sets these apart. The price will reflect that. Report
May 27, 201115 yr comment_45162 BobGreat work and wood. What a pleasure to see these. The figured wood is excemptionally gorgous, not trying to take away from the walnut unit. Best of luck at the show.Wayne Report
May 28, 201115 yr comment_45161 Wow and Wow, Bob, Those are awesome looking. I just kept scrolling back and forth drooling over them. That should be a show stopper for sure. Best of luck with the show. Report
