Getting a Warped Door to Conform

Featured Replies

I know I saw a video how Charles Neil convinced a warped cabinet door to conform. I need help! My door is warped at the latch side, it bows up away from the case frame on both ends.

Charles?

Is this the door for coin display? With glass in it? Might be better off to make a new frame. Charles has a video on how he put a strip into the stiles and rails to help hold stuff straighter. You can also look for some quartersawn material. Even rift sawn. It will be straighter. Good luck. Isn't woodworking fun??

If I am reading between the lines correctly, I think your saying that if I attempt to straighten the door, and I install the glass, the bow might come back and crack the glass? What do you think Bob. The glass is not in yet.

No what I mean is if this is a big glass door, you would be better off starting over. Trying to work with crooked stuff is better off left alone. The little bit of lumber needed is better then the time lost trying to fix what's broke.
