June 6, 201115 yr Awhile back a friend of mine asked me to convert an old Austrian wall clock that has been in the family into a hanging jewelry case for his wife. The top two thirds of the case will be for hanging necklaces and the lower third will be a case I need to build with three drawers to hold rings and bracelets. I am going to build the insert case from oak as the clock itself is oak, and I'll build into it some walnut accent drawer pulls. The inside of the clock is going to be lined with black velvet, and I'll refurbish the outside of the clock case by just cleaning it up, and going over it with some Watco's Teak Oil just rejuvenate the color a bit. You'll see the round glass missing, it's actually in a safe place, it is convex in form, bowing out. It would be disastrous to have it break, I think it would be irreplaceable. I am actually going to be very happy when it's done and out of the shop, that rare glass is making me nervous. Even the arched glass panels are beveled. and the inside, the round metal ring at the bottom is the bezel for the round glass, and the rods mounted to the ceiling are the chimes. It's all coming out to make room for the jewelry case and her necklaces. Wish me luck!!
