June 9, 201115 yr comment_44805 Just some pictures of that finished Cedar Chest:After one coat of Poly Gloss.  "Top Drawer" is a fake, as there is a cedar lined storage area in the top half.Yep, to satisfy Ralph Jones, that is a breadboard edge. The two working drawers in this piece.  Edges of the drawers were beveled to match the raised panels in the rest of the chest's sides/ And the back of this chest.  A little more sap wood showing here, but since it IS the back, it is ok here.   Red cedar is like a sponge, it took three coat to get a good finish to show up.  Report

June 9, 201115 yr Author comment_44812 Just something my little batch of brain cells came up with.   The drawers Are made to match the rest of the raised panels. the "top drawer" front as a fake. The bottom of the storage area is a piece of osb, covered with stripa of 1/4" cedar, nailed in place.  One of the book-matches is three boards, look at the knots real close. Just a little something to take my mind off over things going on.
