June 17, 201115 yr Hi everyone ! Over the next couple months i will be working on my new cedar fence on and off .  The fence will be solid cedar 6 ft high x 500 ft long. The main reason it will take a few months is because it is costing $ 5,000 . I need to sell a few more birdhouses to finish it . One of the main reasons i am building it is because i get a few thousand people stopping in every year and it is making my nosey neighbours mad . The birds will be paying for the entire fence Here are a few progress pics so far . I will post more pics as i move along . Â
June 17, 201115 yr Very nice John!!! I was kind of wondering why it was costing as much as it is, and now I see why, your incorporating shade structures and using some very nice lumber on top of that. Well worth the investment. Are those cedar logs too? I Love the design, a tad rustic, but to the point where everything is just thrown together, the materials are rustic, but the craftsmanship is straight and true, I love it John.By the way, a few thousand visitors a year? Wow! Nice job on the business!John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
June 17, 201115 yr Great looking fence. That is a true project. I really like the way you are putting in the pergola. A very nice touch.  Don't you just love it when it pays it's own way. Hmmm if I could get my kids to do that. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworks

June 17, 201115 yr Author Thanks guys ! All of the post are 6-8" cedar . I had to peel them all too . I got them for 1/4 of the regular price . I added the pergola to help support the center of the fence from high winds and of course to help break the 200 ft span . If i ever get a nice neighbour move in next door then i,ll make a set of gates . Today i managed to get 100 ft of fencing done . I get all the boards in 12 ft plus ft so i have to cut than all down to 6 ft , both ends .
