June 18, 201115 yr So I had a really busy day at my day job and didn't get to check in today. Got home this evening and had to finish up the cabinets so I didn't get to post my usual Friday post. Here it is 1:07 am on Saturday morning. I am just coming in from the shop. We loaded the cabinets into the trailer and at 5:00 am they will be headed to their final resting place. I have ask them to get me some pictures when they are installed. My lovely wife brought me a new pin nailer into the shop this afternoon so I could pin the muttins in to hold the plexi in the doors. She always knows just what to get me. She must have heard me talking about it. So how about you guys and gals. What is on your bench this Father's Day weekend. Are you working in the shop, spending time with family, laying around the pool, or just plain ole resting.
June 18, 201115 yr I'll have to defer to the other "Friday post" if you want to view pictures of my project. Looks like we've had a change of plans for today. I have to install a new network card in the ole Dell computer. The onboard card is gettimng a bit flakey. Then off to the shop to bore door holes and finish triming out mama's Mother's Day gift. June 18, 201115 yr Author Okay so I was a little exhausted early this morning so I didn't post the pictures of the base cabinets. Here they are with the white frosted Plexi installed. And I was so tired when we finished this morning, I forgot to take a picture of the upper bookcase. Oh well, I have requested them send me pictures when they get them installed. Â I left the glass where they could pop it out to put one more coat of stain on and then the polly. Â Today, I have got to get my shop back in shape to make cutting boards. I am soooo far behind. June 18, 201115 yr I got a lot going on, but nothing to do do with woodworking. Oh I would like to get back in the shop but ever since getting into sheep farming 3 years ago, the time is just not there. There just always seems to be something that needs to be done for those silly sheep. So this weekend its watch my daughter of course (single father), then do some bushogging to make the farm look a little better, move the sheep from the upper pasture to the lower pasture, do some shopping for a birthday present for my Daughter's Mother who has a Birthday Sunday, then another gift for my Fiance who had a birthday Tuesday, and then its church on Sunday and maybe some Daddy-Daughter time at the state park Sunday afternoon. So it should be a pretty relaxing weekend!
June 18, 201115 yr Doing home siding. Taking Sunday off from siding. Get to work on some inlays for a few mirror frames.Â
June 18, 201115 yr I got the trophy job and they want it by Wed. So that will be on the bench this week end, or what is left of it. Still need to clean my shop up too ... Wayne God Bless our Troops and Protect them.
June 19, 201115 yr Author Did I miss this somewhere. Tell me more about the trophy job. Wayne Mahler said:I got the trophy job and they want it by Wed. June 19, 201115 yr See if I make this simple John.A friend of mine through Church belongs or knows people that belong to a league. There were paying $500.00 a pop for trophies that were way below standards. So Mike ( my friend ) asked me if I could make them and how much. He dropped of some simple drawings for me to look at and I said no problem.. They are basically three boxes stacked on top of each other and screwed together. he brought a finished one over to show me and it was gut wrenching poor. Very rough finish , made from poplar and screwed together. I told him he was getting ripped off by the "custom woodworker" and he agreed. I'm making the first one out of #1 grade Red Oak and giving him a sample of the joinery used so he can see what custom is. I'm also able to do it cheaper and a world better. They want it for Wednesday so that will not be a problem. They want a dark finish something like walnut and a smooth high gloss finish in poly. I'll post the drawings and stuff on my page when I get a chance. Taking some photos along the way so maybe even a blog post. I'm willing to bet I get a permanent contract from them. And that is a good thing. Wayne God Bless our Troops and Protect them.
June 21, 201115 yr Author Sounds great. Don't just post on your page, but make a post here in woodworking to show what you are doing and the progress. Sounds like a great project. Wayne Mahler said:See if I make this simple John.A friend of mine through Church belongs or knows people that belong to a league.
