June 19, 201115 yr I saw these in the lastest issue of Cabinetmaker FDM magazine. Will Sampson wrote them both. One is a point on "made in America"http://www.sawdustsoup.com/profiles/blogs/freedom-not-money-buysAnother was a story he did on a company coming back out of bankruptcy, bought by a local lady and restarted. I couldn't find the link on the web site for it. Maybe Will can give us the link. Good stuff in both stories and I really enjoyed the lady buying Saunders Brothers Mill. Just shows what people with common sense can do.Â
June 19, 201115 yr Very interesting article by Will. And the interview was excellent. Just not long enough. I found myself really hungering for more of her story. Following her progress as she moves into furniture making would be fascinating. Sounds like a lady to be admired. Thanks for posting this, Bob.Â
June 21, 201115 yr Author Glad you enjoyed it Gene. It is good to hear of people and companies doing good in these times. I always enjoy seeing how someone from outside the business can come in and change just some little things and how the workpeople can feel so much better about working for a company. I really feel this is a key thing for any company to help themselves and the employees. Treat each other with respect. Just like the golden rule. Sure makes sense. bob Bob Kloeswww.bobkloes.com
June 24, 201115 yr I did read that Bob, a great article. Will hit the nail on the head when he spoke of the decision making process and the female customer. I have done jobs for families and couples, and in virtually every case, the female side of the relationship trumped all, and the final product was a direct result of what she wanted. Whether it be materials, details, or even scheduling.Wayne made an excellent point on the whole financing dynamic of the small business, but Will had a good reply, credit cards, take credit cards. Thanks for posting Bob.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
