Pencil Storage

Featured Replies

I know there are some creative folks out there so I need your input.  I have a case of the vanishing pencil.  Seems like every time I need a pencil I can't find it and since it is summer I'm not wearing an apron with a pencil pocket.  So, tell me where you keep your marking devices in your shop.

Geez, Dude..

Add HVAC to your Shop and put the pencil In the top left pocket of your Shop Apron..

Now, if yer cheap like me, buy a box of them, sharpen each one and place them all over your shop   24.gif

I keep a couple of plastic cups in different places on the counter. I have a lot of pencils sharpened and in the cups. If the cups start to get low on pencils, I clean up the shop and collect all of the pencils and put them back in the cups.

Well, I live in the exact geographic center of the Pennsylvania Pencil Parallelogram- the north east equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle. As soon as a pencil leaves my hand, it disappears.

Fortunately, as a retired teacher, over the years I have amassed a vast collection of pencils of all sizes and shapes. At the end of my workbench, I fastened a plastic tub and keep a supply of pencils there. Also keep a pencil at each machine. When one vanishes, another is close at hand.

I keep 2 pencils stations in my shop. The first is at the electric sharpener. The second is the opposing wall being that my shop is small, if I can find any of them, I look in my shop vac .. 24.gif

The best thing that has worked for me, is I now use mechanical pencils, I paid such a good price for them, I tend not to leave them around. And if I do, they are easy to spot, might give it a try!

Great ideas gang and much better than my wife's suggestion.  She said to pull on my ears until they get big enough to stick a dozen pencils behind.

That'll work too Ron! My wife always pulls my ears, literally, I might actually be able to stick a dozen behind mine too.

Well I guess she could have suggested to wrap the pencil with double stick tape and then put it behind you ear.Grin.gif
