June 22, 201115 yr Good morning Friends,Many times we will come upon three different cuttings of wood with one being quarter sawn and another called flat sawn in hardwood and plain sawn in soft wood.What in your mind is the third cutting of the lumber especially in hardwood?
June 22, 201115 yr Rift sawn is another cut. It is considered to be the most stable. All of the cuts are made perpendicular to the growth rings. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworks
June 23, 201115 yr Author Good Morning Fellows,A big fat BINGO on your answers and the best example of this is in stair treads or baseball bats that were made out of Ash wood and if you held the bat wrong it very well could get broken with the baseball coming at 90 MPH or better. Thanks for your support.
