June 24, 201115 yr Good morning Friends,If you have a log that is 24" in diameter on the small end and is 16' long. How can you determine the approximate board footage of lumber in that log?
June 26, 201115 yr Author Good morning Friends,I sure have slipped up for I didn't give you the answer for this quiz or posted a new one. So here we go with the easiest answer; First deduct one inch from the small through the log and square up the log so the formula is as follows;24" - 4" = 20" divided by four = 5 now square that number = 25 x 16' = approximately 400 board feet but not figuring in the saw kerfs.
