If you have a log that is 24" in diameter on the small end and is 16' long. How can you determine the approximate board footage of lumber in that log?

Good morning Friends,


I sure have slipped up for I didn't give you the answer for this quiz or posted a new one. So here we go with the easiest answer; First deduct one inch from the small through the log and square up the log so the formula is as follows;


24" - 4" = 20" divided by four = 5 now square that number = 25 x 16' = approximately 400 board feet but not figuring in the saw kerfs.
