June 28, 201115 yr  Working on a Coffee Table (slowly) that I want to do some "different" legs on.  I'll still taper two faces of the legs, but that outside square corner NEEDS something.  So, after the usual bandsaw/handplane work on the tapers, I'll clamp each leg in the vise.  I'll clamp it (Jed) so that the outside corner is sticking up.   Then a few swipes with a handplane. I'm trying to both remove, and roundover the corner.   Then a few swipes with a spokeshave to smooth out the plane marks. A little sanding and a leg has been rounded over.  Why not just fire up the router?    Safety, for one. These legs taper from1-1/8, down to just 1/2" at the foot.   2).  I also don't have the size needed for this job.  It would take a bit that can change radii as it goes along the leg.   3) by the time I'd get the router set-up RIGHT, cut a test piece (or three) , well, I'd already have all four legs rounded over by hand.   Hopefully, this coming Thursday, I'll mosey back out to the shop.  YES, I'll take a few pictures of the legs.Â
June 28, 201115 yr Author I'm also planning on attaching these legs at a 5 degree angle to the aprons.   That way, they will splay out a bit.   Top is awaiting glue-up.   Just four boards, about 30" long.   I MIGHT get a bit fancy here, as well.     maybe a nice curve to the edges?   Aprons MIGHT also have some work done to them, as well.    Maybe some scallop work?    Everything is still rolling around in that empty place I call a brain (space for rent?) so we'll see what falls out.
