July 9, 201115 yr Thanks to those who have been screaming for this to happen, we now have a Scroll Sawing Forum for what I consider the special folks in woodworking, who are able to turn a piece of wood, into something miraculous with their patient execution of an incredibly thin blade, and movement of arms and hands to twist and turn a piece of wood into a dimension that quite frankly blows my mind. I look forward to seeing the great projects that scrollers produce, and I look forward to reading about the techniques, machinery, and materials used in the wonderful art of scrolling.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
July 9, 201115 yr The scroll saw section is a great idea.My scroll saw sits idle much of the time. My lack of skill is only surpassed by my abundance of impatience. I'd love to see some work by forum members AND, maybe a few tips, too. Â
July 9, 201115 yr Looks like I joined at just the right time. I just found the site yesterday! Thanks for the welcoming emails. I will post some of my work when I have more time. July 9, 201115 yr RickI have seen you site. Great job. Like you I love to use my scroll saws. Not for just fret work, but embellish furniture pieces, to do inlay work and marquetry. The uses for a scroll saw are just about endless. Have you ever tried compound cuts on a scroll saw? Amazing what comes out of it all. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
July 9, 201115 yr I haven't tried the compound cuttings yet. It is on my list of new things to try. When I do I'll post pictures. And thanks for your kind words. I couldn't do it without the help of great designers that I use, like Sheila Landry and her partner Keith, Sue Mey and others on the various blogs and groups for scrolling. Rickwww.thwscrollerandtoler.comDeWalt 788
July 10, 201115 yr Sue May is great. I have used her patterns and they are good and inexpensive. I have a series of crosses from her I have to do for my Church. I will post pics when I get them. As for compound cutting it is not that hard. I did a chess set for a customer, one of the few I do didn't pics of. I have some ornaments to do and will post them when I get to them. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
July 13, 201115 yr We have more then 2 people on here that use their scroll saws. I would love to hear you and see your work. See your styles and what you enjoy the most about sitting there in front of the blade and table. Any special tips or suggestions. For those that are not familiar with this style of wood working please ask your questions and or post your comments. How many people realize that this simple tool once learned can add so much to your projects ? Personalization and an indefinite style or embellishments ? Personally I know that a lot of people don't have the equipment or the patience but I do know there are many more out there that enjoy this style of wood working. So why not spread the word, show your projects and experience and as always. Newcomers are very welcome.  Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
