July 10, 201115 yr Good morning Friends,What methods would you use in order to work in a matchbook appearance in your work while building a piece of furniture?
July 10, 201115 yr Re-saw the board in half then turn the edges for the match. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
July 10, 201115 yr Never thought of using a mirror;Â good idea Richard. Here is a picture of some quarter sawn White Oak I re-sawed by hand. I found it interesting how the grain reversal catches the light. Good, Better, Best never let it restTill your Good is Better and your Better is Best.
July 10, 201115 yr I just did a book match today for a Queen Anne Style Table I am doing for the Mrs. and was actually lucky enough to get the two boards that matched when I bought the lumber. Guess this time I win one. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
July 11, 201115 yr Ralph, since I quit smoking way back in Nov. 1986 I have not had any matchbooks. However when book matching I usually accomplish by resawing using my bandsaw.
July 11, 201115 yr Author Good morning All,As most of you know I hardly ever glue up boards that are wider than 4" so therefore I have little trouble re-sawing them on my table saw and this gives me the chance to have several book matches in my glue up.This method truly does bring out the grain texture in the table top or doors and drawer fronts..
