July 11, 201115 yr With today being my wife's last day teaching summer school before having the next 3 weeks off, we had planned on taking a trip to Las Vegas to see some old friends and have some R&R time together. But I got hit with Jury Duty and had to go in today. While I have always been happy to do my Civic Duty and have sat on a number of juries over the years, I really didn't want to get tied up on a case that would totally mess up our time together. But it ended up that they only fielded 3 panels and then let the rest of us all go as in my county it is 1 day or 1 case to fulfill your jury service. So that means that we get to go to Las Vegas next week and it just so happens that the AWFS Fair (Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers) is going to be there. I have never been to one of these before so I am looking forward to it. My wife is excited to see all different types of home furnishings and designs so she can get more ideas to keep me busy and we have a friend from church who will be working one of the booths for the company he works for. I have wanted to go before but it never worked out. I don't know what all to expect so if anyone has been there before I would appreciate a little bit of information on your experiences.Â

July 12, 201115 yr Author I have been looking through the"Floorplan" of the convention center and zoomed in so that I could read the names of each booth and roll the mouse pointer over each one and get info about each booth/vendor. I have to say that I am getting more excited as there are a number of folks that I really want to see. For some reason I think I will have to get something from the "Ferrari America" booth as they make hinges and drawer/door hardware to put in a cabinet in the garage so I can truthfully tell people that I have a Ferrari in my garage. But since we will be driving our sedan as opposed to my pick-up truck, I will be rather limited on what I can bring home. I told Tami that I may have to strap a new band saw to the roof of the Hyundai and she just shook her head and sighed deeply. All the major woodworking magazines will have a presence there as well as number of the tool manufacturers so we may have to spend part of 2 days there as opposed to just Friday. I emailed my friend from church and he will be working the show Wednesday and Thursday so I would like to stop in and chat with him. I will take my camera with me and get some photos so if there is something specific you are interested in let me know and I will see what I can do for you.John Morris said: Allen congrats on fulfilling your civic duty! July 12, 201115 yr Wear comfortable shoes. Lots of walking. Enjoy the experience. I heard some of the big machine guys will not be there this year. But I don't think you want to buy what they have anyway. Enjoy the time. bob Bob Kloeswww.bobkloes.com
