I own a Ryobi 16" scroll saw and A Porter Cable Scroll Saw. I prefer the PC due to the amount of vibration or the lack of it I should say. I run my saws from a foot switch which gives you better control and both hands stay on the piece when turning the saw on and off. I would recommend either of these saws for a beginner especially the PC. Both are variable speed and take pinned and pin less blades.

and i own a bremel, 16" scrollsaw, as you've seen from a couple of pictures, me and that saw have many hours of fun time together. since the wheather has been so hot and muggy, i have'nt done any work with her this year so far. but i will soon. later  gaylord howe

I own a DeWalt 788(the older model). I too use a foot pedal and would be lost without it. I also have a easy up lift arm that holds the arm up when I change blades and/or rethread for the fret work.

Hi,

I have two Delta 700's (1930's) that both need the upper blade chuck. Both machines are basket cases, so I am trying to make one from the two. As soon as I can find a chuck I intend to do a total restore with pictures that I will post in the old woodworking machine forum.  In the meantime I am using an older Dremel scroll saw for scrolling.

and an old Delta that is not restored yet.

Both real nice saws...that one on the right is awful sweet.  What exactly is it?

Shane they are awesome. I ran across an old foot treadle saw at a flea market. Didn't have the cash on to buy it, went back the next week end and he wasn't there. Shame on me I know. If I remember right he was looking for $50 for it. It needed fully restored but what a piece of history to own.

Those are amazing!  I would love to own either of those or better yet - both!

My most used and favorite tools in the shop are my DeWalt 788 scroll saw, Jet 15 inch planer,  Jet band saw,  Jet titling spindle sander, DeWalt planer 12 1/2 inches wide, craftsman 15" drill press, and my newest addition the grizzly G1495 lathe - which is my early birthday present.  :)

It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
