July 17, 201115 yr comment_43180 I own a Ryobi 16" scroll saw and A Porter Cable Scroll Saw. I prefer the PC due to the amount of vibration or the lack of it I should say. I run my saws from a foot switch which gives you better control and both hands stay on the piece when turning the saw on and off. I would recommend either of these saws for a beginner especially the PC. Both are variable speed and take pinned and pin less blades. July 20, 201115 yr comment_43178 I own a DeWalt 788(the older model). I too use a foot pedal and would be lost without it. I also have a easy up lift arm that holds the arm up when I change blades and/or rethread for the fret work. Rickwww.thwscrollerandtoler.comDeWalt 788 Report
August 1, 201115 yr comment_43177 Hi,I have two Delta 700's (1930's) that both need the upper blade chuck. Both machines are basket cases, so I am trying to make one from the two. As soon as I can find a chuck I intend to do a total restore with pictures that I will post in the old woodworking machine forum. In the meantime I am using an older Dremel scroll saw for scrolling. Larry Report

August 6, 201115 yr comment_43174 Shane they are awesome. I ran across an old foot treadle saw at a flea market. Didn't have the cash on to buy it, went back the next week end and he wasn't there. Shame on me I know. If I remember right he was looking for $50 for it. It needed fully restored but what a piece of history to own. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free. Report
