Here is again, they just keep coming around. Another Friday, weather is hot, middle of the summer and what are you working on?

 

For me we are kicking off a week of Music celebration here in Florence, Alabama.  The W.C Handy Music Fest kicks off tonight with a concert in the park (Sax In The City) by a group named "The Midnighter's" playing music from the 60's and 70's. This will be a week or music all over the area here with artist in the restaurants and in the parks and in the Street Parties.

 

W.C. Handy, also know as the Father of the Blues was born in 1873 here in Florence, Al. Growing up Handy apprenticed in carpentry. He wrote Memphis Blues, St. Louis Blues and many others. He is credited with bringing the blues to all the people.

 

So we will be out enjoying as much of the music as we can this week.

 

But I have a craft show that is part of the festival. I was chosen as one of ten vendor to present at the Governor's Conference that will be held here along with the festival on Sunday evening. I am trying to finish several pieces this week and in the morning.

 

Just need to put the top on a cedar chest and the mineral oil on a few more cutting boards. Turn a few pens and I am set for Sunday afternoon.

I'm hoping to finish cleaning my shop. Then I hope to get some chestnut cut up.  I have several scroll saw projects that I should get done. This is all stuff I will do at a slow pace. Hoping to get some quality time with the Mrs. maybe a movie or dinner out someplace.

Don't know how your weekend has gone so far but boy has mine been busy.

 

Pictures will follow later tomorrow, but I got three pens turned, a deer call, finished the Cedar Chest and got the first coat of Shellac on it, and finished two cutting boards.

 

Oh yea even ran the weed eater around the yard.

 

So how are  you all fairing. I have a Craft Show tomorrow afternoon so I have a couple of items to finish before I leave at 5:30 to setup.

Finish up 1 honey do project this evening, well almost.  Finish painting the house yesterday.  Today took off the storm door at the back of the house and painted the wood trim around it.  Then painted the back door that facing the outside.  All I have left is the wood trim around the storm door on the side of the house going into the garage/shop.  Probably do that next week end.  Sunday, I'll be the shop trying to clean up the mess and maybe I'll find my 2 workbenches and the miter saw bench.  This honey do project can sometimes create confusing in my shop.

Wayne that is a project I am going to have to do before winter gets here. But right now I am waiting on cooler weather before starting to paint outdoors.
