July 26, 201115 yr Author comment_42914 Good Morning Fellows,You all are correct as this has been the method for many a year and it then could be shimmed out as needed till the door was plumb and then you would adjust the latch side up or down as needed and secure it with shims and nails to leave an even margin all around the door.Thanks for your support. August 1, 201115 yr comment_42912 Depending where you are hanging the prehung door, occasionally the floor where the door may swing is higher in elevation than the hinge side jam area. In this case it is always good to throw a level on the floor to check. You may have to shim up the hinge side of the jamb to compensate.
