Was over at Fine Woodworking last night. Appears, General Finishes has a new water based product soon out for wood turners. Have a look. I believe it's a wiping type/friction finish.

 

Both Woodcraft and Rockler should be selling it shortly.

I haven't heard of the General line of finishes for wood turning.  I will check it out.

 

However, some of the pen turners are raving about THIS finish.  It is supposedly formulated by a chemist wood turner.  Long term tests are not in yet, but the finish looks good on a pen.  Pen finish durability is very important.  It will be interesting to see if General or the doctor can come up with something long lasting and that people will use.

 

Ace, I noticed one of the comments on the FWW site was left by a pen turner.  he seems to like it.  Maybe it has promise.
