July 28, 201114 yr I went to an old wood shop this evening and moved this piece for the owner. It is a Canedy Otto Mfg Co. No 15 drill press. The owner claims this to be from the late 1800's and was used in a mine as a post borer. It seems to be all there and in decent shape. I know he wants to sell this but no idea of value for it. So any and all info is greatly appreciated. I found an old catalog from the manufacture on vintage machines. Pics to follow. It's a little rusty and needs a good cleaning. The wheels moved extremely free and easy. Looks like someone drilled down a little deep a couple times too. Thanks for looking and any information you can give me. July 28, 201114 yr Cool old press. Its really kinda hard to place a monetary value as there are just too many variables. Location, condition, availability will all need to be taken into account. I would take a look at craigslist or ebay and see what similar items are selling for.
July 28, 201114 yr Author Ken thanks for the reply. I did look at eBay and a few auction sites and could not find much. These folks are good friends of the Mrs. and myself. I know I am asking a lot with this post. And things like this are a unique item to try and sell. Just trying to help a good guy out. Thanks again. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
October 15, 201114 yr Wayne, I have a gentleman who contacted me about this and would like to look into purchasing it, are you able to find out if they still have it and can you put the two parties together? Thanks! John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
October 23, 201114 yr I got a Canedy Otto Drill press myself. Same model but I am not sure what the value is on them as mine was inherited from my Grandfather. Still a sweet drill press with its automatic feed mechanism, especially for drilling big bore bits into steel.
