Unisaw Restore

Featured Replies

This is my first post on the site with photos. This is a 1968 Unisaw that I finished last year. It was originally a 3 phase unit that I changed over to a single phase unit. I probably have more into this saw than I really intended to put into it, but I had originally planned on keeping this unit for good........until I landed the PM66 for $150 at auction. More to come on that. Here are the before and after photos of the Unisaw. Not up to Shane's standards yet, but I'm working at it.

Harold that's a great job! Did you have to modify the opening in the side for the new motor?

That's a sweet saw ... Thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to seeing pics of the 66.

Beautiful Harold! I love the older uni's, you can't beat that uni grey. My pops has an old uni, where do you get the motor covers? Thank you for sharing Harold, and welcome to The Patriot Woodworker!

Very nice!! My first complete restoration was a unisaw. It seems to be a good place to get your feet wet. Is there any reason you didnt stay with the three pahse?

Shane, No mods on the cabinet. It already had the rectangular opening thankfully. The 66 is coming along too slowly. I did take your advice from a PM I sent to you some time back about the paint on your 270D, I bought PPG paint to spray the 66 with instead of using Rustoleum again like I did on the Unisaw. Too soft and dry time is too long. The PPG should do the trick....

Ken, the 3 phase motor was burned inside and actually still had a burned smell coming from it when I removed it, so I went with the single phase motor. 3HP Leeson
