August 2, 201114 yr I have decided that my next restoration project will be my jointer. I bought this about a year ago locally off Craigslist. It is powered with a 2hp single phase motor that runs like new. It will be completely disassembled, cleaned and repainted. New bearings will be installed and the motor gone over as well. It should be a lot of fun. Here are a few pics to get things started Same machinery dealer that sold my Oliver table saw....kinda cool!! Tables are gonna take a little work  My job is to give my kids things to discuss with their therapist
August 2, 201114 yr Nice jointer Ken. Looks like the knives did a little nibbling to the infeed table. Are you going to add a steel strip to that? That will be a beautiful machine when you are done. Looking forward to seeing you rehab it. bob Bob Kloeswww.bobkloes.com
August 2, 201114 yr Author Bob...I think I will mill the damaged area out of the tables and add a steel filler strip. I am also gonna have to locate a more appropriate cutter head guard. The 12" Oliver just doesnt look right My job is to give my kids things to discuss with their therapist
August 7, 201114 yr Ken,         This is a nice little jointer. I picked up a 12" version of the same machine from a scrap yard here in Jersey. I grabbed it because a friend needed the fence. I believe I kept the guard and some of the knobs off the machine. I think I also saved the head. I've repaired damaged edges like that on other jointers. Sometimes I mill it out and put a cast iron filler stip in. I like the cast iron because it's easy for me to scrape it in. I've also achieved the same thing by putting the table on the big mill and cutting a new edge. It really depends on how badly messed up it is. -Arthur Somerset, NJhttp://www.owwm.net
August 7, 201114 yr Author Art.....the edge is banged up pretty good. I think the ultimate fix will be to mill it out and inset a new piece. I will most likely go with aluminum. I am currently using the jointer on a workbench project, once its done I will tear it down. The cutter head bearings are starting to "sing" at me a little. I think its time for a good once over  Arthur said: Ken,         This is a nice little jointer. August 7, 201114 yr Beautiful looking jointer Ken. It looks to be a in great shape. What's the serial number? I think they did away with the 4 spoke hand wheels on the front around 1920. You're gonna love it.I still need to mill head I picked up for my 18 inch Crescent jointer. Someday I will have it done.
