August 2, 201114 yr I replaced a stool I got on a garage sale this Maple one I made. I found a Maple board that looked long enough at the Woodsmith store. Got it home and it was just right in length but no way to work around the knot so I put it on top and let it show. August 3, 201114 yr Mark when you post pics, use the text tool bar to post em, not the "File Uploader" it's much easier, go HERE to see how to load a picture into your discussion. That's a great footstool! I love the knot! I am a big fan of knots. The stool looks like an old colonial style home made stool, great job! Did you use the stainless screws from the surgery in it? John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
August 3, 201114 yr Nice stool, Mark. If you cant hide the knot then glorify it. Good move. Was that a leg vise I saw in the background? A man of my own heart. I have yet to use a vise that was more effective for the work I do. Adam WelkerRed Car Construction and Fine Woodworking
August 3, 201114 yr Nice work on the stool, much nicer than the metal one.  Interesting shop, do you have more photos of your shop here? I'd like to see how you store your hand tools, planes, saws, etc...
