August 3, 201114 yr Good morning Friends,While installing an electric panel in the house framing as well as the mast head how deep do you need to drive the ground rod into the ground for a good ground and to meet the codes?
August 3, 201114 yr My farm has poor soil around the house so I drove three rods eight feet deep in a pyramidal pattern. The three rods were then connected at the top where they converged.
August 3, 201114 yr Top buried 1 foot, ground cable 1 foot minimum from the top of the rod, 2 rods needed spaced 10 feet apart. Second ground cable has to fastened to the houses water supply line Before meter or any shut off valves. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
August 4, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Fellows,Again it depends on the local codes however in most electric codes only one 5/8" rod 8' long will meet the code and it is also a good idea to run a ground wire from the panel box to the plumbing next to the main water supply.
