August 6, 201114 yr Good morning Friends,As time goes by we notice that the old windows are not sealed as well as the were when you first installed them. Some time you decide to buy new ones to replace the old ones or if money is a problem then you need to make sure they operate well with some good maintenance. What things can you do that will revitalize them to operate smoothly and give them a new lease on life?

August 7, 201114 yr Author Good morning Lewis,You are surly on the right track for anything that you might do to/for the window to give it a little more time to work well without the cost of replacing them. Some times just closing the thumb latch on top of the bottom sash wlll pull the two sashes together for a tight fit on the joint.
August 9, 201114 yr I would inspect the caulking/sealant on the exterior first. Casing can be removed to install insulation around the jamb. On older windows, re glazing the panes can help. Cleaning the tracks and the sill to make it close smoothly and completely will help as well. Adam WelkerRed Car Construction and Fine Woodworking
