August 7, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,You are getting ready to layout a room for some new floor tile and you want the margin to be equal on both the sides and the ends of said room. What method would you use in order to achieve the margins?
August 7, 201114 yr I think I would find the center of the room- length and width. Then layout chalk lines perpendicular, crossing at the center point. Start laying the tiles from the crossing point to the edges. Before starting, calculate the "width" of the border tile. If the last tile on each end is very small, it might look better if the field is shifted slightly to make the border tiles wider.
August 8, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Lewis,You are 100% correct for some times you do need to make a shift so they will work out even all the way around.I used to drop the tile side by side and along the line to make all of the full tile to fit and leave a good margin. Thanks for your support.
