August 8, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,When prepping the walls in a room to get ready to paint, naturally you remove everything that is hanging on the walls however when it comes time to replace them on the wall how can you be sure they are put back in the same location they were in when you took them down?
August 8, 201114 yr With my wife, that is never a problem- she always buys new items to match the color change!! Today, I'd use a digital camera to photograph each wall. You get an instant image of the original positions. Along those lines, digital cameras are invaluable for documenting parts locations when tearing down machines and equipment.
August 8, 201114 yr Leave the nails/screws in the wall. Remove them when you are about to roll/spray that section. Put them back when you are past the hole. Foolproof. Adam WelkerRed Car Construction and Fine Woodworking
August 9, 201114 yr I like the idea of digital pics to relocate. Having said that, neither my wife nor I use many screws or nails. We have been using straight pens for many years now. If the load is such, we use more than one. If you insert them each in the own little individual hole, upon removal there is not a noticeable hole left to worry about. Try it, you might like it. Those little pens are remarkably strong.
August 9, 201114 yr If I am removing Items from a customers wall, or book shelves or what ever, I always take a picture. I always have at least one of my 3 camera's (including my phone) with me when I am working.
August 9, 201114 yr Author Good Morning All,Taking a picture is a fool proof way to remember where each article goes for when you paint the wall the little holes most likely will get filled in with paint and a real pain to locate. I just leave the nails or hooks where they are and hand brush the paint around them. Then it is a simple matter of finding the list you made as you took them down. Thanks for your support.
