August 23, 201114 yr    Well, ajter sanding down that first coat with 120 grit, and wipjng things off, I got a second coat on, and a surprise.   What I thought was some wormy Chestnut, turned out to have some curly figure to it, STRANGE.Looking at an apron, with a fleabaga look at the top, those aren't sanding marksThis is a glue up of a few boards, after they were resawn from 2x4s, That had a bit of trouble with a few bugs.  No stain was used, just two coats of poly gloss.  Ok, one more, showing the underside of this little table/those corner blocks were cut at a compound miter.   The aprons tilt out at 5 degrees. There is also more of that curly figure on that apron.  Bad news?   This is the last of those wormy 2xs...  'and may the road raise up to meet ye'

August 23, 201114 yr Author   Baby steps out in the shop, for now.   Not sure WHAT wood that table was made from.   Burns like cherry when I re-saw it,  Handplanes real nice,  wormy as all get out, and yet has a curly figure that comes out when a couple coats of finish get applied.  Never added any stain to this wood.   Any ideas? 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
