Working on my Rocker

Featured Replies

My weekend unexpectedly opened up and I find myself with some unexpected free time to do what I enjoy most (besides letting my kids climb all over me and doing "honey do's" for my wife) so I get to get in the shop and spend some serious time on my rocking chair. I am really excited, this has not happened for months and my shop is starving for attention. I came home late from work last night, actually I came home from my second job late last night, and I was so full of energy and excitement at the prospect of working in my little corner of the world this weekend that I cleaned up my shop, blew all the cobwebs and left over sawdust from the last project out of the place and got my mind wrapped around the chair, I had to remember where I left off, and what steps are to be taken next to get it completed. I will be shaping the arms on the table saw, cove cutting the tops, securing them to the chair and shaping them in. Then hopefully I'll be able to get the back braces in and start looking at the rockers to be installed. I can't wait!

John, it is great that you are getting some time it the shop finally. Making some sawdust and wrapping your mind around a project is great to remove the stress and tension of the day jobs. I know those rockers have been feeling a little neglected, so I am sure they are ready for some attention.

Sometimes it is even relaxing to just get to go to the shop and do a little clean up and dust removal.

You know we will be anxiously awaiting a progress report or update.

Happy to hear you finally got some shop time. It's definitely good for the mind and soul. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks guys, well, my weekend just got cut short by a day! They need me at work. I was a little bummed, but I snapped out of it quickly, I am blessed to even have a job these days, I'll take all the hours they can throw at me. I'll still get some work done on the rocker this weekend, I'll have some pics to post. It was a nice feeling while it lasted!Grin.gif
