August 29, 201114 yr Good morning Friends,I could have sworn that I posted a quiz yesterday but I can't find it if I did, so continuing on here is the one for today. When you are starting to install sheathing on a roof in the form of plywood how far up the trusses would you strike a line with your chalk box and add the facia later so the rainwater would not run behind the facia?
August 29, 201114 yr  Just a WAG, but I would say about 47-1/4".    That way the plywood would overhang the facia.  IF the facia is a bit thicker, adjust accordingly. 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
August 30, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Fellows,You both are correct that it all depends on the materials needed for the facia. However under normal use of 3/4" facia boards one would measure 47" to allow for the drip edge to be well over the facia if one were going to install a facia cap.
