I went and watched the videos of the Pro Cut 50 and the Master Builder. Very impressive tool and very versitile. It appears to be very well built and thought out and would work well in many shops (mine included). For me in my shop (3 car garage 30'w x 20' deep) I have all of my major tools on mobile bases so that when not in use they are stored on the single car side of the garage allowing parking for my wife's car. Having the Pro Cut 50 on the contractor base would work well and could be folded up and stored when not in use. One negative that I saw is that when using the circular saw or router by hand and not locked into base, there is possibility for movement as you are physically having to hold the saw/router against the fence having to push in 2 directions at the same time. An attachment/base for the saw/router so that it would ride in a groove so that you would not have the chance of pulling the saw/router away from the fence and only have to push in a single direction would be much more stable and give more precise cuts. For my sheet goods cutting and routing that are too large to comfortably handle on my table saw I lay out my sheet goods on top of a table or workbench with a piece of hard foam insullation between the bench and the sheet goods. I have a set up with 2 clamp on rails/fences (100" straight and a 60" with a pivot head for cross cutting and angles) that have bases that will attach to the base of my circular saw and router that rides in a groove on the rail/fence so that it cannot move side to side. I get just as accurate cuts this way as I do on my table saw. Price for the system was $130 at a wood working show a year or so back and it works great for me.

 

The only down side for the Pro Cut 50 is that the cost is fairly high with a cost of about $1500 (is that US or Canadian?) for a Pro cut 50 set up and Contractor stand plus the rip and router attachments (might as well buy all the attachements). At that price you are getting out of the range of most home woodworkers. For someone who is doing woodworking more as a business, then it would be a good investment that could be recouped in a short period of time.

This is excellent feedback and I greatly appreciate it. You make a number of good points. The Pro-Cut 50 and Pro-Cut 34 both have quick release saw attachments that slide in the grove of the top clamp and are included with each machine. In talking to a number of people, they preferred to use only the cut guide with no additional attachment. I have to admit, I completed a number of projects, including the cabinets shown in the video, without the use any additional cross cut saw/router attachments and the cuts were perfect.  I can certainly understand your concern for a need for a guide and it was a primary design requirement until I started using the Pro-Cut. The material is firmly clamped in the clamp and the tool is so steady and stable that I found it was just as accurate and faster to cut without the use of an additional guide. Maybe I should have shown a short segment in the video with the use of the guide.

One thing I never wanted to do was compromise on quality of product or material.  I wanted it manufactured in North America so quality of build was not an issue (we have all seen the inconsistency of quality in some imported products).  When I go to the big box building supply stores I see contractor saws for $700.00 and $800.00 that look to me like they are not even worth carrying home. A half way decent table saw is around $1,500 but that’s all it is, a table saw. I thought, if I could supply a quality tool that can provide all the functions of a quality table saw, a large panel miter saw and a router table capable of working with both small and large sheets such as cabinet sides and have all of this in an easy to move portable package then I would have a good useful tool. After using the Pro-Cut for many projects, I will say that the Pro-Cut not only met my expectations but far surpassed them.

With regard to the price, the package price coupled with the Patriot Woodworker club discount would make the complete package a total of $990. The total package includes the Pro-Cut 50, Pro-Cut 50 contractor stand, complete rip cut kit and 2 router guides. The Pro-Cut provides all functions of a quality table saw, miter saw and router table combined. Most home shops don’t have the room for all these individual tools and not to mention a price tag of about $3,000 to $4,000 for these tools if purchased separately.

It sounds like you have a lot of experience with woodworking and I greatly appreciate your feedback Allen. If you think of anything further, please let me know.  I always believed that products can only improve with good feedback such as yours.
