September 10, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,When cutting a rabbet in a door or window, what is the widest and deepest rabbet you would normally use?
September 11, 201114 yr I think this one needs a bit more info to it.   Where is the rabbet going, what will go in the rabbet, and will there be any "extra" wood going to be in there as well? 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
September 11, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Steve, The old door that I am replacing on south Main Street in London has a rabbet that is 3/4" wide and 3/4" deep for the the doors was built to hold 1/4" thick glass with the air bubbles in it and since the Down town Historical Committee says it has to be replaced with a like glass which can be found but very expensive. Yes, there will be a trim pieces of wood that will hold the glass in place. I might add that it is a very expensive piece of glass.
