September 14, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,Again I am missing a quiz for I could have sworn that I posted one for the 13th but I lost it somewhere.Oh, well here is a quiz for today; When framing in a roof for a structure that is to be a hip roof, where does the last common rafters or trusses stop to allow for the jack rafters or trusses to be in the right location on each side of the hip rafter or truss?
September 15, 201114 yr  Since I'm more of a "Foundation Guy", this one would be "over" my head.   The ONE thing I do not do is roofs.  'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
September 15, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Steve,The answer to the quiz is the last common rafter or truss would be the same as half the width of the structure. By that I mean if the home is 24' deep front to back, the run would be 12' and this is the location of the last rafter or truss so that the hip rafter/truss will be on an exact 45º of the structure. Thanks for your support.
